Prada’s Luna Rossa Pop-In on Passeig de Gràcia

This architectural photography series documents the Prada Luna Rossa Pop-in installation at the luxury brand’s flagship store on Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona. Timed to coincide with the 37th America’s Cup, this temporary spatial design fuses high-performance sailing aesthetics with Prada’s iconic luxury retail design language.

The Interplay of Luxury and High-Performance Design

The visual narrative of this interior commercial photoshoot centres on a striking contrast in materials. Prada’s signature architectural elements—most notably the polished green marble walls and soft, diffuse ambient lighting—serve as a rich, timeless backdrop for the stark, industrial features of the sports sailing Luna Rossa collection.

Sleek, minimalist metal shelving structures house contemporary grey apparel and designer sneakers, imposing a sharp geometric grid over the marble's organic veining. Central glass display tables feature integrated steel drawers showcasing the technical collaboration between Prada and Pirelli. Meanwhile, a large floating glass display cabinet encases a mannequin in aerodynamic racing gear and a sailing helmet, presenting high-performance sportswear as fine art objects.

Photography Approach: Framing Spatial Depth and Materiality

Documenting high-end luxury retail spaces requires rigorous calibration of geometry, perspective, and reflection management.

  • Controlling Reflections: With abundant glass displays, polished metal, and expansive mirrors, angles were chosen carefully to manage glare and use natural reflections constructively, revealing spatial depth and the flow between adjacent spaces.
  • Material Integrity: The exposures focus on the tactile shift between the cold, smooth luxury of polished stone and the matte, technical fabrics of performance sailing gear.
  • Geometric Alignment: Using clean vertical lines and precise architectural framing, the images portray both the grand scale of the luxury boutique’s layout and the meticulous details of the custom retail fixtures, preserving a comprehensive visual record of this transient exhibition.
